~たら: If / When a Condition Happens
Build ~たら from plain past-style forms and use it for practical conditions.
- Plain past forms.
Troubleshooting and planning depend on conditions: if an error appears, call me; when testing finishes, send the result.
1. Plain past + ら creates the basic ~たら conditional
書いた→書いたら, 読んだ→読んだら, した→したら. Negative: しなかったら.
2. Context decides whether English prefers 'if' or 'when'
Study the examples and identify the structural pattern before relying on the English translation.
Natural: If an error appears, please check the logs.
Structure: error appeared-if — logs check please
Contingency.
Natural: When the test finishes, I'll send the result.
