て-Form: The Connector
Convert common dictionary/polite verbs into て-form using reliable ending groups and understand why this form unlocks many later patterns.

て-form is one of the highest-leverage Japanese transformations. It connects actions and combines with requests, permission, prohibition, ongoing actions, trying, preparation, giving/receiving, and more.
1. Think of て-form as an interface, not a tense
て-form by itself does not simply mean past, present, or command. It is a connective form that lets a verb plug into another grammar function.
2. Learn Group 1 by final-sound families
Instead of memorizing dozens of verbs separately, group their final dictionary endings.
3. Group 2 and irregular verbs are simpler
Group 2 removes る and adds て. する→して. 来る（くる）→来て（きて）.
Natural: eat → て-form
Structure: eat-dictionary → eat-connective
Group 2.
Natural: see → て-form
Structure: see-dictionary → see-connective
Group 2.

Irregular.

4. The rules are sound patterns, not arbitrary spelling trivia
The transformations reflect historical/sound changes. Treat the ending family as a chunk. When you hear 読んで, train yourself to connect it back to 読む without reconstructing every step in English.

Convert thirty verbs. First classify the group, then apply the correct transformation. Include at least five verbs from each Group 1 ending family, Group 2 examples, する, 来る, and 行く.
