How to use the Jōyō Kanji Hub

  1. Begin with the default first 100, or choose a school collection, grade, display count, or custom index range.
  2. Search by kanji, meaning, reading, radical, or component. The displayed cards update immediately.
  3. Use the speaker buttons to hear Japanese readings. Speech quality depends on the Japanese voice installed on your device.
  4. Click a kanji card to open its writing guide. Play the animation or step through individual strokes and stroke numbers.
  5. Drag, resize, or minimize the workbench tiles, then save the layout if you want to keep it in this browser.
